Criminal Defense

Jerry Tidwell is an experienced Criminal Defense Lawyer representing clients on both misdemeanor and felony charges in State and Federal Court. I am able to focus on the specific facts and circumstances of my client’s criminal charges and not distracted with every possible way a crime could have been committed. The State can make a story (or the events) sound bad, but a bad sounding story is not always a crime — wrong place at the right time does happen.

It is important to assess what has the State charged and, more importantly, what can the State prove. The greatest issue in a criminal prosecution is whether the State has sufficient facts to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt and to assess any criminal defenses to those charges.

Charges of criminal conduct pose the most serious of legal consequences. Regardless of a person’s education, social status, or familiarity with the legal process, allegations of criminal conduct can be traumatic. The most effective representation is based on candor, honesty, and trust – a person accused of a criminal offense should trust their criminal defense attorney so that they are able to candidly and honestly confide in their lawyer and tell the facts they know.

The following are some areas of criminal defense I have assisted clients.

Drunk Driving Charges Drunk Driving Consequences
“White Collar Crimes” and Specialized Cases ALR Hearings / ODL
Assault Offenses including: Family and Domestic Violence / Aggravated Assault / Deadly Weapon Drug Crimes, including: Possession of Marijuana and Controlled Substance (heroin, cocaine, meth) / Manufacturing and Delivery

Criminal Mischief / Criminal Trespass Probation Revocation

Writ Bond / Bail Reduction Felony and Misdemeanor Punishment Ranges

There are a large number of State and Federal felony and misdemeanor charges; therefore, this list is meant as an example and not as an exclusive of the only criminal charges in which I represent clients. I have the experience and understanding to assist clients in a wide range of circumstances.

Once retained, I gather information about your case. This includes speaking with witnesses, examining the offense reports, and speaking with the prosecutor. I then advise you about your case, including possible defensive strategies and the existence of any plea bargain offer by the prosecutor. You and I will chart a course of action for the case. Finally, I represent you in court, seeing your case through to disposition.

If I may be of assistance, I encourage you call my office at (972) 234-8208 or email me at jwtidelljr@tidwell-law.net to discuss your case.
